<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heating control method that reduces temperature unevenness of a fixing member in a circumferential direction using a fixing device with particularly low quantity of heat in local heating. <P>SOLUTION: A heating control method for a fixing device allows a fixing member, which forms a fixing nip together with pressing means, to be subjected to local heating by PWM driving system, and allows a recording medium, which is held and conveyed by the fixing nip, to be subjected to pressure heating to be fixed. The heating control method includes the steps of detecting whether or not the fixing member is heated (heating ON/OFF) in the direction of rotation thereof, and controlling the fixing device to determine a heating position of the fixing member in the subsequent temperature control period based on the detected ON/OFF information in the direction of rotation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
