A fuel supply system 1 has a tank 2, a boiler 5, and a fuel supply pipe from the tank to the boiler with an installed flow meter 4. The system further includes a controller 6 which has an associated processor, a communication interface to the flow meter, means for uploading/downloading data to/from a server 7 and a user interface (30 fig 5). In use, the server receives data uploads from the controller and manages user accounts according to payments made and fuel usage data, and downloads commands to the controller. The controller monitors fuel usage according to the flow meter, uploads fuel usage data to the server and controls the boiler according to server download commands. The system may also include a tank fuel level sensor 3, and the controller or the server may receive fuel level data from the sensor. This allows comparison of fuel level and fuel usage data, for example during boiler operation and/or fuel delivery, from which alert/alarm conditions may be triggered.
