A printers blanket has a carcass which includes a layer of a compressed polyurethane foam, preferably of polyurethane foam with a density of 0À6 to 0À9 g./cc. and with cells whose diameter prior to compression was 100 to 800 microns. The foam may have been reduced in thickness by up to 30 : 1 and may contain a deposit of an elastomeric substance such as neoprene or nitrile rubber on its cell walls. The blanket may comprise a weftless fabric base of, e.g. glass fibre, a layer of polyurethane foam or two layers separated by a polyethylene terephthalate film, a fabric layer and a surface layer of nitrile rubber. Where there are two foam layers they may be of different densities, or a single layer may have a density which varies through its thickness. Fibres may be dispersed in the foam and nitrile rubber adhesive may be used in assembly. |
