[Also in Divisions B5 and C3] A foam, made by mechanically agitating in the presence of a gas and without heating, a mixture comprising an aqueous dispersion of a vinyl polymer, a compound that contains a plurality of hydroxyl groups, a non-hardening substance capable of forming a stable foam without water when heated and a stabiliser for the vinyl polymer, and drying and gelling the resulting foam by heating up to 180‹C, is spread over the surface of a support in a layer 5-30 mm. thick before being dried and gelled. The support may be a sheet of polyvinyl chloride, phenoplast, moulded fibre board, roofing paste board, corrugated board or melamine resin.
