A self-lubricating fluorocarbon polymer composition comprises a substantially uniform blend of (i) from 40 to 70% by weight of vinylidene fluoride polymer, (ii) from 2 to 40% by weight of a particulate glass filler, and (iii) from 15 to 35% by weight of one or more telomers of the formula: R-(CF 2 CF 2 ) n -X where R is a C 1 -C 4 perfluoroalkyl or monochloroperfluoroalkyl radical; n is an integer from 6 to 16 and X is chlorine, fluorine or iodine and wherein the percentages are based on the total weight of the three components. In the examples the compositions are prepared by coagulating latices of polyvinylidene fluoride in the presence of fluorotelomer waxes of formulµ and (CF 3 ) 2 CF(CF 2 CF 2 ) n I, glass fibres and glass microbeads, filtering, washing and drying. |
