The injector (10) has a valve needle (20) movably arranged in an injector housing (11) in upward and downward directions. A piezoelectric actuator (18) is arranged in an actuator module space (15) for indirectly actuating the valve needle. The actuator module space filled with fuel is coupled with a fuel return line (27). The actuator is acted upon by force in a direction of a side facing away from the valve needle. A compressible damping element (40) is designed as a Wills Ring(RTM: Metal O-Ring) and arranged in the actuator module space for reduction of hydraulic pressure peaks. |
