The invention relates to welding and can be used for welding copper to steel for manufacture of products from dissimilar metals. In a method of welding dissimilar metals, mainly copper and steel, a main part of an arc is concentrated on a copper edge, and during welding an electrode is subject to asymmetric vibrations according to a given program: after every 7.2 electrode transverse vibrations from the line of interface on its copper edge it is once deflected to a steel edge, after which the cycle is repeated. The value of electrode transverse vibrations on the copper edge makes 40-60 % of the maximum value of transverse electrode vibrations, which makes 0.7-2.0 of the thickness of welded edges. Vibration frequency and welding speed are selected so that the deflections of the arc on the steel edge take place with intervals equal to 0.3-0.8 of the thickness of welded edges. All parameters of electrode asymmetric vibrations are set in advance, it is oriented along the interface line and welding is carried out in automatic mode without any additional adjustments. The invention provides for obtaining welds with high mechanical properties under room and elevated temperatures and high impact toughness. |
