In a vehicle an auxiliary machine 15, such as an electrically powered air compressor or brake modulator, is mounted to part of a clamp 13 for the vehicle battery 12. The battery provides for substantial additional mass which resists transmission of noise and vibration from the smaller auxiliary machine to the vehicle structure 11. The mounting for the auxiliary machine may be formed integrally with the machine or they may be resiliently coupled. The auxiliary machine and battery may have a mass ratio of 1:5 or greater, and the auxiliary machine may overlie the battery and be form fitting therewith. A method of clamping a battery to a vehicle so that said battery is sandwiched between an auxiliary machine and vehicle structure is also disclosed. |
