1,242,881. Cathode-ray display tubes. R.C.A. CORPORATION. 17 Oct., 1968 [17 Oct., 1967], No. 49213/68. Heading H1D. A cathode-ray tube for colour TV and including Einzel or bi-potential focus lenses and a shadow mask for example, comprises a plurality of electron guns each having low voltage and high voltage apertured electrodes 28 and 29 respectively supported by a plurality of glass rods 32, and a low voltage suppressor ring 90 surrounding and spaced outwardly between the glass rods and the tube neck for shielding the external surfaces of the low-voltage electrodes from high electric fields established on the high voltage electrodes and on the envelope neck portion. Ring 90 may be split, segmented or closed and may be included as an intermediate portion of wire 84 to low potential focus electrode 30. A split ring prevents RF coupling during processing and serves as a flexible connection to focus electrode 30. Ring 90 may alternatively be connected directly to ground or a low impedance voltage source.
|
