The present invention provides a structure configured so that the load by which an engagement capsule (50d), which is supported on the steering column side, protrudes forward out of an engagement hole (48b) can be reduced, the engagement hole (48b) being provided in a vehicle body-side affixation bracket (11e). Small through-holes (52e) are formed in the flange (51d) of the engagement capsule (50d). Small cutouts (62a) open on the engagement cutout (48d) side are formed in the vehicle body-side affixation bracket (11e) at positions located in the peripheries of the engagement cutouts (48b) and corresponding to the small through-holes (52e). A synthetic resin (72) is injection-molded so that the synthetic resin (72) is bridged between each of the small through-holes (52e) and each of the small cutouts (62a) to thereby join the engagement capsule (50d) and the vehicle body-side affixation bracket (11e). A part of the synthetic resin (72) is caused to enter and solidify in the minute gaps (71) between the inner surfaces of the engagement cutouts (48b) and the outer surface of the engagement capsule (50d).
