<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical control element which can miniaturize an LN chip by devising a connection configuration between the LN chip and a circuit board. <P>SOLUTION: An optical control element 100 of the present invention includes a circuit board 30, an element substrate 11 having a thickness of not more than 10 μm, optical waveguides 13b and 13c, a first electrode 21 provided on the front face of the element substrate 11, and a second electrode 22 provided on the rear face thereof. The first electrode 21 is a coplanar type electrode that is composed of at least a signal electrode 14 and a first ground electrode 15. The signal electrode 14 is composed of a controller for controlling the phases of light passing through the optical waveguides 13b and 13c, and a connection land part 16A connected to the controller. The second electrode 22 is provided on an area which is not opposed to the connection land part 16A and applies electric fields to the optical wave guides 13b and 13c in cooperation with the controller. The connection land part 16A is connected to the controller by having a width larger than an electrode width of the controller and electrically connects the controller with a wiring electrode of the circuit board 30. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
