The transaction processing system comprises a transaction analyzer for determining characteristics of a received transaction, a processing agent selector for selecting, based on the determined characteristics, a processing agent for processing the received transaction, and a dispatcher for dispatching the received transaction and the selected processing agent to a processing resource to cause the transaction to be processed in accordance with the selected processing agent on at least one of the computing devices.
