<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive electrode active material for nonaqueous electrolyte secondary batteries, which, when used as a positive electrode material, can obtain high capacity and high output power. <P>SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a positive electrode active material for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes: a first step of adding and mixing an alkali solution having a W compound dissolved therein to Li metal composite oxide powder composed of primary particles expressed by a general formula Li<SB POS="POST">z</SB>Ni<SB POS="POST">1-x-y</SB>Co<SB POS="POST">x</SB>M<SB POS="POST">y</SB>O<SB POS="POST">2</SB>(where, 0.10≤x≤0.35, 0≤y≤0.35, 0.97≤z≤1.20, and M represents at least one kind of element selected from Mn, V, Mg, Mo, Nb, Ti and Al) and secondary particles composed of an aggregate of the primary particles and mixing to disperse the W over the surfaces of the primary particles; and a second step of heat-treating the W compound-dissolved alkali solution and the Li metal composite oxide powder which have been mixed together to form W- and Li-containing fine particles on the surfaces of the primary particles thereof. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
