<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell in which long-term durability is enhanced. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell comprises a membrane electrode assembly including a polymer electrolyte membrane 10, an electrode layer arranged on both sides of the electrolyte membrane, and gas diffusion layers 40, 41 arranged on the electrode layer on the reverse side of the electrolyte membrane, a gas seal material arranged around the membrane electrode assembly, and separators 60, 61 sandwiching them.
