<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disc brake capable of securing superior responsiveness. <P>SOLUTION: A ball ramp mechanism 13 of the disc brake 1a includes: a rotation plate 35 that rotates with respect to a caliper 6 by rotating force of an electric motor 11 and generating a thrust of linear motion by a first inclination groove 44a; and a linear movement plate 40 that transmits the thrust of linear motion generated by the rotation plate 35 to a pressing member 7 via a spherical member 42. The rotation plate 35 includes a plurality of holding recessed parts 67 formed thereon in the rotating direction of the rotation plate 35 that inhibits rotation of the rotation plate 35 in the brake releasing direction by fitting with the spherical member 42, when rotating force from the electric motor 11 is not applied even when the pressing member 7 is at any of a plurality of parking braking positions of different thrusts.
