NEW OIL AND FAT-DECOMPOSING BACTERIUM, OIL AND FAT-DECOMPOSING BACTERIAL PREPARATION AND METHOD FOR TREATING OIL AND FAT-CONTAINING WASTE WATER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide oil and fat-decomposing bacteria growable under an acidic condition and also decomposable of the oil and fat, and an oil and fat decomposition-treating agent containing the same.

SOLUTION: The new oil and fat-decomposing bacteria belonging to the genus Burkholderia, are growable in an oil and fat-containing medium and/or in oil and fat-containing waste water at pH of 5 to 6, and decomposable of the oil and fat. The oil and fat-decomposing bacterial preparation contains one or a plurality of such the oil and fat-decomposing bacteria, and the method for treating the oil and fat-containing waste water includes treating the oil and fat-containing waste water under the acidic condition of pH of 5 to 6 by using them to reduce the amount of its oil and fat content.
