1,133,883. Forming webs. MASCHINENFABRIK RIETER A.G. 19 Sept., 1966 [5 April, 1966], No. 41767/66. Heading D1N. Apparatus for separating flock 2 from a conveying airstream coming, e.g. from a bale opener, along a pressurized duct 1 comprises a shaft 4 with means, such as a roller pair 16, 17, to form the fibres deposited therein into a web a channel 7 parallel to shaft 4 and connected to shaft 4 by vertical slots (6), see Fig. 3, not shown, through which the conveying air passes to be eventually led away along a conduit 18. The fibres in shaft 4 can thus slide down the slots without clogging; the slots are open at the lower end to facilitate movement of the fibres. Slotted walls may be provided on opposed walls of shaft 4, see Fig. 6 not shown. The duct carrying the flock may be connected to a series of shafts 4, e.g. three, so that all the flock can be dealt with and there is no need for surplus to be recirculated. As shown roller 17 is perforated so that fibres in channel 7 are trapped and return to the web being formed. Both of the web forming rollers may be solid. |
