<p>Continuous casting of steel in a casting plant, comprises reducing the thickness ((d) in mm) of a strand (3) emerging from a mold (2) in the liquid core reduction process by an adjoining strand-guiding device (6), where the strand passing through a strand-support length ((L) in m) between the meniscus (13) is measured, which is the bath level of the mold and an end of the strand-guiding device remote from the mold at a casting speed ((v) m/minute); and adjusting the strand thickness dynamically by adjustable guide elements of the strand-guiding device. Continuous casting of steel in a casting plant, comprises reducing the thickness ((d) in mm) of a strand (3) emerging from a mold (2) in the liquid core reduction process by an adjoining strand-guiding device (6), where the strand passing through a strand-support length ((L) in m) between the meniscus (13) is measured, which is the bath level of the mold and an end of the strand-guiding device remote from the mold at a casting speed ((v) m/minute); and adjusting the strand thickness dynamically by adjustable guide elements of the strand-guiding device, where the thickness is varied for number of times as the strand passes through the strand-guiding device, such that the conditions defined by operating coefficients are maintained between the strand thickness measured at the end of the strand-guiding device, and the casting speed as a function of the plant-specific strand support length of more than 75%, preferably more than 90%, where the casting speed is greater than a(min)x (L/d 2>) and less than a(max)x (L/d 2>). The minimum operating coefficient (a(min)) is 2050, preferably 2400, and the maximum operating coefficient (a(max)) is 2850, preferably 2800, and the strand-support length in the unit. An independent claim is also included for a plant for carrying out the above mentioned method, comprising a mold, a strand-guiding device arranged downstream, which has a series of lower guide elements and a series of upper guide elements arranged opposite to lower guide elements, and a receiving shaft provided for receiving the strand emerging from the mold, where clear receiving width of the receiving shaft is decreased or increased and the slab thickness or the clear receiving width during the casting process or during the passage of the strand through the strand-guiding device is variably adjustable such that the conditions defined by operating coefficients are maintained between the strand thickness measured at the end of the strand-guiding device, and the casting speed as a function of the plant-specific strand support length.</p> |
