[Also in Division A5] A keyless chuck 11, e.g. for use in surgical work, has a locking cylinder 20 arranged around the drive shaft 21, said cylinder having teeth 25 at its lower end engaging with teeth 18 on an element 13 of the chuck and internal surfaces closely engaging a hexagonal drive 23 of the shaft 21, so as to positively lock the relatively rotatable elements 12, 13 of the chuck during rotation of the chuck in either direction. A spring 30 biases the cylinder 20 on to the teeth 18 of the chuck and the spring force is adjustable by moving a disc 32 along the shaft 21. |
