In the region 7a where articles pass from a branch roller conveyer part 4 on to a conveyer part 1, the clearance between adjacent rollers 7 is small compared to the diameter of the rollers. The other rollers 3 of the conveyer part 1 are spaced from centre to centre by a distance equivalent to two and a half times the diameter of the rollers. The disposition of the rollers 7 assists in aligning articles, e.g. crates, having bottoms which are not flat, as the articles pass on to the conveyer part 1. A guide plate 6 also assists in the alignment. The rollers 7 may be inclined and the rollers 4 may be tapered or in the form of a plurality of rollers on a shaft. The conveyer may be of Y form. |
