PURPOSE: A method for providing a user-centered standby screen, and a terminal and a storage medium thereof are provided to display a shortcut area for the quick execution of a specific application on a standby screen in a puzzle shape, thereby providing a user-centered convenient user interface to a user. CONSTITUTION: A shortcut area management unit(310) sets a shortcut area to a puzzle shape. The shortcut icon of one or more applications is selected by the input of a user. The shortcut area management unit allocates the shortcut icon to the shortcut area. A multitask area management unit(320) sets a multitask area. The multitask area management unit allocates the icon of one or more applications to the multitask area. A standby display management unit(330) displays one or more of the shortcut area and the multitask area on the initial screen of a standby screen.
