[Also in Divisions B3 and F1] A blade for an axial flow blade wheel comprising a vane part 2 integral with an attachment part for securing the blade to a wheel hub 1, is made by shaping and clamping the vane part 2 of a metal or other ductile sheet blank in a die 3, 3a, clamping the attachment part in a holder 4 and twisting the blank by relative motion of the holder 4 and die 3, 3a. An upper die 3 is moved by a piston and cylinder assembly 8, 9 to clamp and shape the vane part 2 of the blank e.g. to a plane or curved configuration The twisting jaw 4 is axially displaced by a piston and cylinder assembly 13, 14 so that the attachment part of the blank is clamped in a slot 5, after which the jaw 4 is rotated by a slidably attached arm 15 moved by a piston and cylinder 16, 17. The twisting jaw 4 may alternatively consist of two die parts. |
