<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress deterioration of magnetic performance and to secure roundness of a stator of a rotary electric machine. <P>SOLUTION: The stator of the rotary electric machine has a plurality of phase coils and an external cylinder 5 is engaged and fixed to an outer periphery of a core assembly body to which a split core is assembled with a prescribed interference. The stator has a brim 5a arranged in a direction apart from a center axis of the external cylinder on at least an end side in the axial direction of the external cylinder 5, and at least two or above brims 5a are split and disposed in a circumferential direction of the external cylinder 5. The brims 5a are formed in the thin external cylinder 5. Thus, rigidity in the circumferential direction becomes high, the roundness of the core assembly body is maintained to be high and the brim 5a can be made small by split.
