<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent upper/lower rollers of a cutting chip recovery device from clamping an optical fiber and causing twist and bend, before a clamp of an optical fiber cutting apparatus holds the optical fiber. <P>SOLUTION: An optical fiber feed mechanism 27 of the cutting chip recovery device includes a roller retaining member 23, besides upper/lower rollers 18 and 19 that feed cutting chips 1a of the optical fiber cut by the optical fiber cutting apparatus, to a chip recovery box. In an initial state (Figure 4(a)) where the upper/lower rollers are not actuated, the roller retaining member 23 forms a clearance h that has a sufficient dimension for preventing the upper/lower rollers from clamping the optical fiber. When the upper roller 19 is rotated after the optical fiber is cut with its clamped by the clamp of the cutting apparatus, the upper roller 19 is lowered by the operation of the roller retaining member 23 to clamp the optical fiber 1 and feed it out. In a stage before the clamp of the cutting apparatus holds the optical fiber, the upper/lower rollers do not clamp the optical fiber so as to prevent the upper/lower rollers from causing the twist and bend of the optical fiber. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
