PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for saving electric charges of electric and electronic equipment with a rechargeable battery are provided to save the electric charges by charging a rechargeable battery for an operation device only when cheap electric charges are applied. CONSTITUTION: A power saving device of electric and electronic equipment is connected to an external price information providing unit(100) and includes a rechargeable battery which supplies electricity to an operation device. A price information receiving unit(1) receives electric charges information from the price information providing unit. A charging unit(2) controls power supplied to the rechargeable battery by sensing the charging state of the rechargeable battery. A control unit(3) operates the charging unit by comparing the electric charges from the price information providing unit with a preset reference price. The control unit supplies or blocks power to and from the rechargeable battery according to real-time electric charges.
