<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical instrument capable of obtaining environment sound from which lens driving sound and the like is preferably removed. <P>SOLUTION: An optical instrument comprises: a motor (46) driven during shooting; a microphone (14) for converting pressure change due to sound during shooting into an electric signal; a first amplifier (18) for amplifying a microphone output (54) of the microphone with a first amplification factor (α); a storage portion (40) for storing motor sound components (58) related to driving sound of the motor; a second amplifier (34) for amplifying the motor sound components with a second amplification factor (β); and a removing portion (19) for removing the motor sound components (58) amplified by the second amplifier from the microphone output (54) amplified by the first amplifier. When the microphone output is smaller than a first value, the second amplification factor is larger than the first amplification factor.
