PURPOSE: A device and a method for detecting the remaining amount of a gas tank and for inspecting the gas state are provided to enable a user to recognize the replacement time of the gas tank since the pressure of the gas tank is detected using a high-pressure sensor at ordinary times. CONSTITUTION: A device for detecting the remaining amount of a gas tank and for inspecting the gas state comprises an automatic blocking valve(5), a pressure sensor(7) and a control module(8). The automatic blocking valve is installed on the gas tank and the feeding pipe of the gas unit and blocks the gas feeding according to a control signal. The pressure sensor is connected to the feeding pipe and measures and outputs the gas pressure. In a state the automatic blocking valve blocks the gas feeding, the control module calculates pipe capacity with reference to a memory, which stores information on the diameter and length of the feeding pipe, and the kind of gas of the feeding pipe.
