In FR. 1449716, a protective atmosphere for welding steel, using consumable high-alloy electrodes, was argon containing 20-90% helium and 0.5-2% free and combined hydrogen, with the concentration of hydrogen and gaseous impurities containing carbon, hydrogen and/or oxygen totalling 2-6%. 10-30% of the helium could be replaced with an equal quantity of neon. In this addition, the volume concentration of helium which could be replaced with neon is extended to 0-30%, and the total concentration of hydrogen and the gaseous impurities is extended to 0.5-6%.
|
