PURPOSE: A method for manufacturing methyl 5-aminolevulinate hydrochloride is provided to shorten a synthesis time and to improve yield by reacting methanol and thionylchloride with 5-aminolevulinate hydrochloride, adding diethyl-ether and then vacuum-drying the mixture. CONSTITUTION: A method for manufacturing methyl 5-aminolevulinate hydrochloride represented by chemical formula 1 comprises the steps of: reacting methanol and thionylchloride with 5-aminolevulinate hydrochloride; adding diethyl-ether to the reacted material; and vacuum-drying the mixture. A cosmetic composition for skin external application for improvement of pimpled skin comprises methyl 5-aminolevulinate hydrochloride as an active ingredient.
