The gear (14) has a synchronous brushless electric machine (18) that comprises a stator (24) and a rotor that is rigidly integrated to a rim (26) of a wheel (16). The stator carries the rotor in a zone located at right of the wheel. The stator is rigidly fixed to a support (20), where the stator has a cylindrical internal surface (36) extended radially from another cylindrical internal surface (34). A shaft (38) is rigidly fixed to the rotor, where the shaft has a square section (44) in a plane perpendicular to an axis (22). An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling an aircraft.
