The invention relates to the field of producing petrol by catalytic conversion of a mixture of H2, CO and CO2 via dimethyl ether and/or methanol and can be used for producing high-octane petrol. The technical problem is to improve the quality of the petrol by reducing the emission of aromatic hydrocarbons and increasing the content of C5 hydrocarbons, and also to increase the productivity of the process. A method for producing ecologically clean petrol having an octane number of 92-93 according to the investigative method is proposed, the method comprising a stage of synthesizing dimethyl ether from synthesis gas and a stage of synthesizing hydrocarbons from dimethyl ether, which can be carried out in the presence of a catalyst on the basis of pentasil-type zeolite comprising zinc oxide and palladium, in which method the stage of synthesizing dimethyl ether is carried out in a reactor for the synthesis of oxygenates, and the vapour-gas mixture from the reactor for the synthesis of oxygenates passes, without the latter being separated off from unconverted components of the synthesis gas in an intermediate stage, into separators where said mixture is separated into an aqueous, hydrocarbon and gaseous phase, the gaseous phase is divided into two streams, and the first stream is recirculated into the reactor for the synthesis of oxygenates (production of dimethyl ether).
