<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an input device and an input detection method which can quickly inform a user of an input operation when the input operation is detected. <P>SOLUTION: An input device 100 comprises a touch panel (an input operation part) 1, an acceleration sensor (an input operation detection part) 2, an input determination part 3, a driving part 4 and a vibration part 5. The acceleration sensor 2 is provided to the input device 100 and generation of acceleration on the touch panel 1 immediately makes the vibration part 5 vibrate. Since the vibration starts without waiting a determination result by the input determination part 3, a user can quickly notice that an input operation is detected. Vibration continues for a fixed period of time when the input operation is valid, and the vibration is immediately stopped if the input operation is not valid.
