<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk drive, a focus control method and a control program which can excellently play a double-layer optical disk having a narrow interlayer even with a low-priced optical pickup device. <P>SOLUTION: The optical disk drive, the focus control method and the control program discriminates a double-layer optical disk having a narrow interlayer, based on an FES curve. For the double-layer optical disk having a narrow interlayer, focus control is carried out based on a proper focus balance value acquired in advance.
