<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect a skin region by reducing influences caused by an external light source. <P>SOLUTION: An LED 21a<SB POS="POST">1</SB>and an LED 21a<SB POS="POST">2</SB>irradiate a subject with light of a first wavelength, and an LED 21b<SB POS="POST">1</SB>and an LED 21b<SB POS="POST">2</SB>irradiate the subject with light of a second wavelength. A camera 62 produces a first image on the basis of reflection light, from the subject, which is made incident while the subject is being irradiated with the light of the first wavelength, produces a second image on the basis of reflection light, from the subject, which is made incident while the subject is being irradiated with the light of the second wavelength, and produces an external light image on the basis of reflection light, from the subject, which is made incident while the subject is being irradiated with neither the light of the first wavelength nor the light of the second wavelength. An information processor 63 detects a skin region indicating a skin portion of the subject on the basis of a pixel value of the first image, a pixel value of the second image and a pixel value of the external light image.
