An endoscope device including an ultrasonic transducer, a diffraction grating, an energy supply system, a detection unit, a determination unit and a control unit. The diffraction grating converts ultrasonic oscillation into an elastic surface wave that is propagated on the surface of a transparent member. The detection unit detects reflected electrical energy from the energy supply system, which includes the ultrasonic transducer and a path for supplying electrical energy to the ultrasonic transducer. The determination unit determines, in accordance with the reflected electrical energy, whether or not the electrical energy that is appropriate for driving the ultrasonic transducer is being supplied to the ultrasonic transducer. The control unit controls, in accordance with the result of the determination performed by the determination unit, the electrical energy that is output from a signal generating unit. |
