The device (10) has a carriage (12) and a bed (14) having two pressurized fluid outlet openings that are spaced apart from each other. The fluid outlet openings are connected to a pressurized fluid source, for dispensing the pressurized fluid in the direction of the carriage. A fluid pad (25) is arranged between the carriage and the bed. The pressurized fluid outlet openings are formed facing an inflow structure (S) so that pressurized fluid is selectively applied to the outlet openings, for positioning the carriage.
