<p>The concrete hollow shell around a reactor is fitted with binding hoops which are applied and fixed under tension. This system provides a method of fitting the hoops which ensures that the required tension is applied and maintained. A metal strip is laid down around the container in a series of spiral loops on top of each other. A mechanical trolley is provided to ensure that the required tension is applied, and a gradually reducing tension is used to prevent the outer loops compressing the inner ones too much.</p> |
