The coolant valve (1) has an inlet (11) and two outlets (12,13). A rotary structure (2) has a shut valve structure (20) that opens and closes outlets alternatively. The movement of rotary structure is controlled by electrically heatable expansion element (3) such that coolant distribution through outlets is controlled. The heatable expansion element is provided with a rack gear (31) that is in contact with a gear wheel (32) that is in contact with a pinion wheel (33) of the rotary structure.
