PURPOSE: A method for modifying germination of plant seed by controlling SOMNUS or functional equivalent at intracellular level is provided. CONSTITUTION: A method for modifying germination of plant seed by controlling SOMNUS or functional equivalent at intracellular level comprises a step of controlling the amount of ABA and GA by regulating the expression of gene which relates to synthesis or lysis of GA and ABA. When the expression is suppressed, the necessity for light is reduced in germination of seed.
