A double walled vessel such as a cup or a flask with an outer vessel body and an inner vessel body joined permanently at the rim or top edge, and arranged so that a gas-filled volume is formed between the two bodies, and a pressure compensation plug or valve made from silicone or another hydrophobic flexible elastomer plastic polymer is inserted into a hole or aperture in the base of the outer vessel body and securely fastened using adhesive. The plug has at least one self-sealing gas passage that is formed by the insertion or piercing of a needle completely through the plug to allow the passage of gas or air but prevents the entry of water or liquid into the interior volume. The plug has a fastening flange to assist adhesive connection and a circumferential annular opening to delimit the pressure equalizing opening.
