<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for adjusting a current limit in a switching regulator. <P>SOLUTION: One exemplary switching regulator includes a switch connected to an energy transfer element of a power supply. A controller for generating a driving signal controls switching operations of a switch and is coupled to regulate an output of the power supply. A current limiter is included in the controller and regulates a driving signal to limit the electric current running through the switch to a variable current limit.
