PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for automatically creating height limit information for a road, etc., by using travel history data of a probe car.

SOLUTION: The device for identifying height limit information selects a target element for identifying height limit information from a map information storing part; extracts probe information on the height limit information on the selected target element; and identifies the height limit information on the target element based on the extracted probe information.
