The power train (10) has an internal combustion engine (12) and an electric machine (32) for driving motor vehicle. A rotatable shaft (22) is coupled to a gearbox (30) and rotated about a rotational axis to transmit a torque. A torque flow path between the engine and electric machine, is provided with a freewheeling device (34). The shaft is coupled with electric machine, when shaft is rotated in one direction and shaft is spaced apart from electric machine when shaft is rotated in reverse direction.
