<p>An injection device comprising: a housing in which can be mounted a syringe including a needle at a forward end thereof; and an energy source in communication with said syringe for providing forward force capable of moving said syringe axially forward so that said needle can penetrate an injection site; characterised in that the injection device further comprises a chamber defined by a front part of the housing thereof containing compressible gas, the chamber having an outlet for said gas and means for decreasing the volume of the chamber, whereby the volume of the chamber is dependent upon the axial position of the syringe and, as the syringe is moved axially forward, the volume of the chamber decreases and said gas is compressed within and exhausted from the chamber at a rate controlled by the size of said outlet.</p> |
