<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable forming a stable color image without color shift immediately after switching to a color mode without causing reduction in productivity of image formation. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming device comprises: transfer means for successively superposing and transferring toner images formed on respective photoreceptor drums 8a, 9a, 10a and 11a of a plurality of image forming units 8, 9, 10 and 11 arranged in the traveling direction of an intermediate transfer belt 1 on the intermediate transfer belt 1; and a separation mechanism 6 for switching the tensioned posture so that the intermediate transfer belt 1 is made abut on all of the photoreceptor drums 8a, 9a, 10a and 11a in a multicolor mode and only on the photoreceptor drum 11a in a single color mode. When the color mode is switched from the single color mode to the multicolor mode, a control part 30 causes the separation mechanism 6 to start the tensioned posture switching operation during the single mode earlier than a predetermined time when transfer in a multicolor mode is started so that the intermediate transfer belt 1 has been made abut on all of the photoreceptor drums. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
