<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication apparatus and a firmware update system for communication apparatus capable of updating firmware without making a user feel bored. <P>SOLUTION: A router 10 transmits user information unique to router 10 to a firmware distribution server 30. When distributing firmware update data, the firmware distribution server 30 selects advertisements suitable for the user of the router 10 based on the user information and transmits display data to be displayed during updating including the advertisement data together with the firmware update data to the router 10. While updating the firmware, the router 10 makes a display device 26 of a PC 20a display the selected advertisements, by using the display data to be displayed during updating.
