PURPOSE: A magnetic holding device combining a permanent magnet with an electromagnet is provided to be applied to various industrial fields by extending or reducing the size of module according to a device. CONSTITUTION: A pair of pole pieces(15) are arranged in a yoke(11). The pole piece has a holding surface(16) for holding a magnetic element. The yoke includes a bottom plate(12) and a plurality of lateral plates(13) which are arranged on the edge of the bottom. A plurality of permanent magnets(17) are arranged between the yoke and each pole piece. An electromagnet(18) and a middle permanent magnet are arranged between the plurality of pole pieces. An electromagnet control device supplies a current to the electromagnet.
