PURPOSE: A backlight unit and a display device are provided to increase heat transfer rate and radiating efficiency. CONSTITUTION: A heat pipe loop(40) comprises a heat absorbing unit(40a) and a radiating unit(40b). A capillary typed passage into which an operation fluid is inserted is formed in the heat absorbing unit. The heat absorbing unit absorbs the heat generated from an LED light source unit. The radiating unit emits the absorbed heat from the heat absorbing unit. The heat pipe loop is combined along the edge area of a light guide plate.
