The invention can be used for protecting a corroding surface of products and structures consisting of ferrous metals, in particular of a vehicle body, in particular a car body, used under atmospheric conditions in different climatic zones. The invention proposes the use, as protection means, of a strip of stainless steel which is welded with a continuous seam, for example by means of argon-arc welding, to the edges of parts and/or elements of the car body. Edging of the strip of stainless steel can be used not only for the lower edges of the parts and elements of the body which are most susceptible to corrosion but also for other edges of the parts and elements.
