<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video display apparatus enabling confirmation on a video reproduction apparatus which port of the video display apparatus a cable is connected with, when the video display apparatus is connected with the video reproduction apparatus via the cable. <P>SOLUTION: When a cable 300 to be connected with a video reproduction apparatus 100 is connected with one of a plurality of external I/Fs, a video display apparatus 200 detects the external I/F connected with the cable 300 and outputs a signal indicating the result to the video reproduction apparatus 100.
